Superhero Movie
Superhero Movie delivers jokes so rapidly in it’s first half that you almost forget how good a time you’ve had after a slower ending.
What makes Superhero Movie particularly interesting is that it was written and directed by only one person, much unlike the Scary Movies, which all took 3 - 6 writers to complete.
Craig Mazin mostly succeeds with his particularly irreverent brand of humor, and this is notable considering that he is spoofing material that doesn’t exactly lend itself to parody.
Sure, I could find some things to complain about (the hit-and-miss humor becomes a little tired), but the bottom line is that this movie is still immeasurably better than what the spoof genre has been putting out lately (Date Movie, Epic Movie, Meet The Spartans…).
If you’re looking for a good time and more than a fair share of big laughs this is for you.
After being bitten by a genetically altered dragonfly, high school loser Rick Riker develop superhuman abilities like incredible strength and armored skin.

After an experiment gone wrong, Lou develops the power to steal a person’s life force and in a dastardly quest for immortality becomes the supervillain, “The Hourglass.” with unimaginable strength, unbelievable speed and deeply uncomfortable tights,

Goofs
- Revealing mistakes: During the Youtube scene, you can see the video time is 22:00, instead of 00:22.
- Continuity: When Dragonfly learns to fly, he sprouts wings, which would presumably tear through his costume to get out. Yet there are no rips or tears on his back in later scenes.
- Continuity: When Dragon-Fly and Jill are kissing in the rain from one shot to the next their noses switch over.
- Revealing mistakes: When Dragonfly jumps off the Gargoyle perch, it gives slightly revealing it isn’t real stone but a prop.
- Revealing mistakes: When Dragonfly is brutally beating up the thugs in the alleyway and begins slamming ones head on the brick wall, the wall gives slightly, revealing it is not a brick wall but a softer material like rubber.
- Continuity: While checking his (Rick Riker) symptoms on the internet the dialog box title changes from mdnet to internetmd and back again.
Continuity: At the awards, when Jill discovers Landers is The Hourglass, the same brown haired girl runs past Jill twice running in the same direction.
