Step Brothers

The physical comedy was outstanding and the acting itself was pitch perfect.

Many critics commented on how well they did given what they had to work with, but I think the script was excellent.

Some of the lines were brilliant, but you really have to give the actors credit for improvising.

After Ferrell revealed his singing talents when he sang “Let’s Give ‘Em Something to Talk About”, when Reilly gushed on and on about how great he was, and then said “I’m not sure, but towards the end I think I saw you turn into a Unicorn”, I lost it. :P

I really lost it when Ferrell’s brother & his family were singing in the car “Sweet Child of Mine”. It was a real classic. :P

Hell, I think I’ll buy this when it comes out on DVD.

Don’t miss this one. It’s a scream. its magic!

enjoy! ;) magic

Goofs

  • Continuity: When Brennan is singing at the Wine Mixer, he holds a note that shatters the glass helicopter sculpture. A few moments later, when the scene shows his mom and step dad smiling at the end of the song, the sculpture is intact in the background.
  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): At the Catalina Wine Mixer, the cover band “Uptown Girl” refuses to play “We Didn’t Start the Fire” because they only perform Billy Joel songs from the 80s. However, “We Didn’t Start the Fire” was released in 1989.
  • Continuity: During the first dinner scene the ketchup bottle changes from being on top to being on bottom when they change angles.
  • Revealing mistakes: During the school yard fight at the end of the movie it is quite obvious that the “students” are really much older stunt people.
  • Factual errors: At the beginning of the film it is revealed that Brennan is 39 years of age. Later, during a bedroom scene with Dale and Nancy, it’s revealed that when Brennan was 17 his brother, Derek, won a talent show by lip-synching, “Ice Ice Baby.” Based on Brennan’s current age that would date the talent show as taking place in 1986; “Ice Ice Baby” wasn’t released till 1990.
  • Continuity: Robert is eating a tree-shaped cookie while he drinks during the Christmas scene; when he gets up to leave, the cookie is whole again.
  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: The drums heard at several points during Brennan’s song at the Catalina Wine Festival quite clearly don’t match up with what Dale is playing.
  • Factual errors: In the Wine Mixer scene when Dale is first playing drum rolls, it sounds like he is playing them with drum sticks, but it is showed he is playing them with yarn mallets. In real life performing a drum roll with mallets would not sound the same as performing it with drum sticks, and would be a lot more difficult.
