The Andromeda Strain

Some of you will like it – others may not who have seen the original but never judge a book by its cover … so they say :P

A U.S. satellite crash-lands near a small town in Utah, unleashing a deadly plague that kills virtually everyone except two survivors, who may provide clues to immunizing the population.

As the military attempts to quarantine the area, a team of highly specialized scientists is assembled to find a cure and stop the spread of the alien pathogen, code-named Andromeda.

Boy A

Jack (Andrew Garfield) is released from prison, finally, at the age of 24 … having been institutionalized for most of his life.

He and another boy murdered a child, when they were themselves children.

When Jack is released from prison, with a necessary new identity, his counsellor Terry (Peter Mullan as a convincingly flawed mentor), believes so fully in his right to redemption, you can see Jack wanting and willing to believe him.

As the movie unfolds, Jack’s doubts continue to arise, through a series of episodes (drug use, a fight, trespassing) he finds it impossible to escape from his criminal past, despite a heroic rescue of a young girl trapped in a crashed car.

Lakeview Terrace

So I have to be brutally honest here, I was mainly looking forward to see “Lakeview Terrace” because I really thought it was going to be awful.

It did look that way to me by the trailers. So when it started it went from good to getting better and better.

Now not saying that this movie does not have flaws, because IT DOES.

But it surprised me with its thematic elements, and really suspenseful scenes. :)

A young couple (Patrick Wilson and Kerry Washington) has just moved into their California dream home when they become the target of their next-door neighbor, who disapproves of their interracial relationship.

Adulthood

Worth a watch for sure and recommended for a critics award.

The violence scenes were brutal at times but am sure the movie demanded the same.

Hats off to the director for bringing out raw talents out of these young actors and highlighting the growing problems of young crimes in this country.

Six years after he was convicted for killing Trife, Sam Peel is released from jail.

After returning home and finding no one in, Sam visits Trife’s grave and is confronted by a man who tries to stab him.

Sam is able to overpower him, but recieves a stab wound in the shoulder.

The man tells him that someone is coming for him, and his family.

The Family That Preys

The Family that Preys is seriously a very good movie, it will not disappoint you.

Perry managed to bring to the screen a powerful but entertaining adult story that kept the viewing audience glued to their seats.

Kathy Bates and Alfre Woodard both gave two of the best performances this year in film.

Robin Givens gave what has to be to date her best big screen performance as the honorable and hard working business woman (Abigail “Abby” Dexter).

The cast was nothing short of excellent in this touching story of love,deceit,friendship and compassion.

It was nice to finally see a film about the real ups and downs of life vs the fluff and mindless problems we have come to see to often in films today.

The two friends have enjoyed a lasting friendship throughout many years, suddenly, their lives become mired in turmoil as their adult children’s extramarital affairs, unethical business practices and a dark paternity secret threaten to derail family fortunes and unravel the lives of all involved. Sounds like fun :P

Anamorph

This movie is magic except one thing!.

The cinematography is great, the acting is top-notch and the plot and storyline keep you guessing and on edge till the end.

The end is a terrible let down for an otherwise super production.

Its like they ran out of ideas and money at the same time or maybe there is a producer to blame. :P

I would definitely recommend watching this movie even with the poor ending.

Willem Dafoe plays an NYPD detective who grapples with a string of unusual serial murders, perpetrated by a killer who fashions himself an artist.

The detective investigates the brilliantly composed crime scenes, as he draws closer to a mystery that may end up implicating himself.

Annie and Dixon’s plans for Friday night are stalled when they learn about Harry and Debbie’s family bowling night.

While at the bowling alley, Ethan, Navid and Silver show up and family bowling night is put off so that Annie and Dixon can hang out with their friends.

Later, Ty arrives and Annie must choose between him and Ethan. Meanwhile, Naomi has to deal with a bad night with her father.

Dixon runs into a situation that sheds light on Silver’s drinking.
