Ultimate Avengers (Double Feature)
oooh yeaaaahh!! check this bundle out!
Ultimate Avengers 2 picks right up where the first movie left off.
Again, It’s simply a magic rendition of Marvel’s (and Earth’s) Mightiest Heroes.
What surprised me is the fact that this second film establishes the characters better and has substantial character development.
Some serious Ultimates fans (not me
) wanted this movie to be an exact reenactment of the comic book.
Marvel instead made a conscious decision to infuse the old school Avengers in to the Ultimates mix.
It’s still a good call and a masterful decision.
The combination works very well.
Gone are the overblown and, quite frankly, juvenile elements of the Ultimates.
Having a horny Hulk or an outrageously abusive Henry Pym may work to capture the teenage comic crowd (which is exactly why the Ultimate Universe was created) but it doesn’t play with main stream audiences.
have fun!
magic!

Ultimate Avengers I
- Factual errors: When the Chitauri ships attack S.H.E.I.L.D., General Fury gives orders to “move to DEFCON 5″. DEFCON 5 is “Normal peacetime readiness”.
- Continuity: When Capt. America escapes from the lab, General Fury is in a stealth suit (mildly reminiscent of the Hulkbuster suits). When Fury walks up to Cap outside, he is now wearing his usual military uniform. When did he find time to change clothes?
- Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Thor pronounces “Mjolnir” incorrectly.
Ultimate Avengers II
- Continuity: On the computer console in the room where Dr. Banner is being held prisoner, the same red button is used to perform many different operations (in one scene it fills Banner’s chamber with gas, while in another it drains the gas from the chamber.)
- Continuity: When T’Challa is standing outside on the balcony of the castle, just after being exiled, he isn’t wearing the Black Panther costume, then you see the aliens for a second or two, then switches back to T’Challa pulling on the Black Panther hood, and wearing the rest of the of the costume. How did he get the costume on so fast?
- Continuity: When Iron Man is being helped into the avengers airship after the locals hit him with a large log, his armor is visibly damaged. Next time you see him, he is closing the door and his armor is whole. Then the next time you see him, his armor is damaged again!
