After the critically acclaimed and much successful ‘Casino Royale’ I had hopes that ‘Quantum of Solace’ could rival this years best movie so far: ‘The Dark Knight’.
Well… it doesn’t even come close.
There use to be a time when Bond movies where trendsetting…
On paper Quantum of Solace may be a Bond movie.
But many of those things that people use to associate with Bond movies are gone.
And what’s up with this new style of filming and editing?
Quantum of Solace’ continues the high octane adventures of James Bond from ‘Casino Royale’.
Picking up literally days where the previous film left off, after being betrayed by Vesper, the woman he loved, 007 fights the urge to make his latest mission personal.
enjoy!

Goofs
- Continuity: In the scene where Bond is talking to Mathis at his villa, Mathis’ watch moves between scenes. At the start of the sequence, his watch is facing away from the bottom of his wrist. By the end of the scene, it has moved to a more conventional position.
- Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): General Medrano pronounced “Caribbean,” as JFK popularized the mispronunciation (ka-rib’-eon), rather than as natives of the Caribbean pronounce it (care-ri-be’-an).
- Factual errors: While in Austria you see two License Plates. Both have 4 Letters before the emblem of the state. That’s not possible. All Austrian License Plates have a maximum of 2 Letters before the Emblem of the State the car is registered to. The emblem shown in the movie was the correct one for the state that Bregenz is in but that Letter combination wouldn’t be possible.
- Continuity: During the first meeting with M, James Bond’s shirt collar changes position: at first it’s inside his jacket lapel, then it moves outside, and then back inside without him fixing it.
- Revealing mistakes: In the Siena roof chase sequence, it is obviously clear that both Bond and Mitchell are wearing black running shoes, whilst in earlier scene they were both wearing black suit shoes.
- Continuity: In the scene when Bond arrives back in Siena and M shows him the file containing the pictures of Vesper’s boyfriend the file is open in order for Bond to steal a photograph and is then untouched until the end of the scene, when he pushes the file back across the table and it is already closed.
- Continuity: After racing through the Palio of Sienna, Mitchell and Bond are on the roofs of the buildings surrounding the Piazza Del Campo. They chase for some time. A couple of shots later, there is a view from the spot where they are to the city and the tower “Torre Del Mangia” is half the city away. That’s 2 miles in 20 seconds.
- Continuity: The film is supposed to follow on immediately after the events of ‘Casino Royale’ and yet M’s office is completely different.
- Revealing mistakes: When 007 and M are talking in Russia you can not see their breath even though it is snowing.
- Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Bond reads the registration of the private plane in Haiti to MI6 as G-0(ZERO)***. Its a British registered plane and would read G-O(letter).
- Continuity: The scene where Camille is putting together her gun, right after that Bond has his hand on her shoulder, the next camera shot its at his side, the next camera shot its back on her shoulder.
- Revealing mistakes: In the opening credits sequence, there is side-view close-up of a Walther PPK being fired in slow motion. The slide begins to move back before the hammer strikes the firing pin.
- Errors in geography: James Bond is clearly not in Port-Au-Prince. The harbor is all wrong, there are no luxury hotels or home on the bay and the general conditions of the building are much better than in Haiti’s capital. It looks like he is in Panama.
- Continuity: Heavy turbulence occur during the flight to Bregenz. In the single shot of Dominic Greene the water in the vase of white tulips is quite shaky. In the wide shot one can see that the water in the vase is not moving at all, before cutting back to the single shot with the moving water.
- Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): At the Grand Andean Hotel in Bolivia, when Bond tips the bellboy in the hotel room, he says “Grazie” instead of “Gracias”. The scene itself was actually filmed in Italy, not Bolivia.
Errors in geography: After Mathias is killed by the Bolivian Police, Bond dumps his body into a dumpster in front of a large sign in Italian, with the word “Italia” in large letters on it.
See, we miss nothing
