My Bloody Valentine is a great start.

It’s fun, gory, doesn’t spend too much time on the dialogue, because it understands we’re wearing these ridiculous glasses for a reason!

I really enjoyed it actually- and for someone who has watched so many slashers, the 3d did add some wonderful novel touches, so it felt like more than just a retread.

I know it’s cool to bash remakes these days (and admittedly so many are very weak) but I much prefer this to the original- which seemed to plod along at quite a pedestrian pace, and besides the mining town setting, really didn’t offer anything especially new.

Ten years ago in the town of Harmony, an inexperienced coal miner caused an accident that trapped and killed five men and sent the only survivor, Harry Warden, into a coma.

When Harry awoke, exactly one year later on Valentine’s Day, he wanted revenge and brutally murdered 22 people with a pickax before being killed himself.

Now, after years of peace, something from Harmony’s dark past has returned.

The movie depends on its all stellar cast led by Harrison Ford in his most unusual role ever, none of his typical saving-his-family from terrorists, in fact, his character in CROSSING OVER is a loner who wonders whether his job as ICE agent is the right thing to do, he’s haunted by the implications and the impact of what he does for a living on those who just want to come here for a better life and angered by those who take advantage of the freedom bestowed upon them.

After the tragedy happened, the rules of the game have changed and Ford, in a way, is like that aching voice bugging us to rethink whether enforcing homeland security at the expense of a few good immigrants can be justified.

Crossing Over is a 2009 American drama film about illegal immigrants of different nationalities struggling to achieve legal status in Los Angeles.

The film deals with the border, document fraud, the asylum and green card process, work-site enforcement, naturalization, the office of counter terrorism and the clash of cultures.

Crossing Over was written and directed by Wayne Kramer, himself an immigrant from South Africa, and is a remake of his 1995 short film of the same name.

Jean Claude Van Damme wrote and stared in this movie in 1990 when it was called Lionheart.

In the new version - Shawn, played by Channing Tattum, is down on his luck and comes across Harvey, a two-bit hustler/ fight promoter.

They team up and make a splash in the underground, no holds barred fight circuit. In the end, Shawn must face Evan and Harvey bets all of their money on Evan to win! I won’t spoil it and tell you who wins in the new version.

Small-town boy Shawn MacArthur (Channing Tatum) has come to New York City with nothing.

Barely earning a living selling counterfeit goods on the streets, his luck changes when scam artist Harvey Boarden (Terrence Howard) sees that he has a natural talent for streetfighting.

Filled with unpredictable twists what further elevates it is the fact that everyone is a killer and anyone could kill anyone at any moment this keeps you at the edge of your seat.

The acting is also above average for this kind of film especially Agnes Bruckner ,Taryn Manning,Teddy Dunn and newcomer Ryanne Duzich.

Carly Pope fans are in for a disappointment as she is only featured in a picture (deleted scenes?) given the quality of the film it is a wonder that lions-gate has shelved this for so long since it could become the next Saw.

The running time is somewhat short at about 80 minutes but the film makes up for that with its fast pacing.

A group of college students whom head out to a secluded vacation home to celebrate their recent graduation. However, the fun doesn’t last long when a sadistic psychopath arrives on the scene and forces the college students to participate in his deadly game. The rules of the game are simple…in order to survive, you must kill another.

THE SOLOIST is a powerful, heartfelt, emotionally moving, human drama with two incredibly talented actors who give their all.

It is every bit as magic as what it promises.

Definitely one of the best films of the year.

If you’re looking for… an inspiring story, well then look no further.

This is another accomplishment by Director Joe Wright (Pride & Prejudice, Atonement).

In “The Soloist,” an emotionally soaring drama about the redemptive power of music, journalist Steve Lopez (Oscar® nominee Robert Downey Jr.) discovers Nathaniel Anthony Ayers (Oscar® winner Jamie Foxx), a former classical music prodigy, playing his violin on the streets of L.A.

Lopez endeavors to help the homeless man find his way back, a unique friendship is formed, one that transforms both their lives. nice

Two great actors and one good one giving solid performances until the story gets pulled out from under them at the end, and crashes into unlikelihood.

It’s almost as if the screenwriter died three fourths of the way through the film, and some teenage graphic novel hack was put to writing and glued on the ending.

Plot twists are great if they’re plausible, and if you know when to stop twisting.

There was also a bit too much blatant pandering to the failing newspaper industry, almost as if they were a major sponsor.

A petty thief is gunned down in an alley and a Congressman’s assistant falls in front of a subway - two seemingly unrelated deaths.

But not to wisecracking, brash newspaper reporter Cal McAffrey who spies a conspiracy waiting to be uncovered.

With a turbulent past connected to the Congressman and the aid of ambitious young rookie writer Della Frye, Cal begins uprooting clues that lead him to a corporate cover-up full of insiders, informants, and assassins.

The story was much more intriguing, emotional and tragic than that of either of the previous two expeditions (this being of course subjective), as many who recall the flashbacks presented within will agree.

It was also faithful to the material, and it’s good that they didn’t compromise for the sake of “improving” the story.

Overall, I can’t think of another prequel that brought such raw emotion to the table, and regardless of the fact that Len Wiseman was not directing this one (though he was at the helm in other ways), you wouldn’t know by watching it as it did a good job maintaining the same feel as the first two.

The prequel story traces the origins of the centuries-old blood feud between the aristocratic vampires and their onetime slaves, the Lycans.

In the Dark Ages, a young Lycan named Lucian emerges as a powerful leader who rallies the werewolves to rise up against Viktor, the cruel vampire king who has enslaved them.

Originally titled, The Darkest Evil, the adaptation of this classic Lovecraft tale is set in Louisiana and tells the story of several scholars headed by Henry Armitage (Dean Stockwell) who discover the secret to destroying mysterious, other-worldly beings that threaten humankind.

Jeff plays Wilbur Whateley, part of a strange, inbred family who with the help of the dreaded tome, The Necronomicon, helps unleash these beings on to the world.

The acting was okay, the direction was tolerable.

The problem is the script.

The story itself had potential, it just felt as if the writers could decide where this was a character they loved or hated.

It really could have used another re-write or two to develop the script a little more.

You’ll be a little disappointed in the laughs as well.

For years, he has applied to become a cop, but he always fails the physical exam because he is overweight.

One day, a gang of organized criminals put the mall under siege and take hostages.
