There aren’t many (or at least not enough) live-action movies that are engrossing as this cartoon.

Pixar Studios has gotten to be one of those movie icons that shouldn’t even have to deliver a premise to get funded anymore.

The moneymen should just shut up, hand over the money, and trust they’ll get a product that will appeal to everyone.

“Up” is a winner, and couldn’t be less surprised, anyone still putting a limit on how new and inventive they think a Pixar film can be deserves to have their socks blown off.

This new flick is the work of writers/directors Pete Docter and Bob Peterson, two guys who have each been around the making of Pixar flicks before.

Docter was a director on “Monsters Inc”, a writer on “Toy Story” and a co-writer and director on “Wall*E.” Peterson was a writer on “Finding Nemo”.

Comedy adventure about 78-year-old balloon salesman Carl Fredricksen, who finally fulfills his lifelong dream of a great adventure when he ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to the wilds of South America.

But he discovers all too late that his biggest nightmare has stowed away on the trip: an overly optimistic 8-year-old Wilderness Explorer named Russell.

Drag me to Hell is, really, a throwback in so many ways to the fun of The Evil Dead 2.

The camera angles, the excellent score - it all recalls how Raimi played with us in his earlier trilogy.

What has changed however, is the sense of pace.

We know its coming and Raimi employs all his skills to draw out the tension.

The thrills are all there in place, perhaps a little too much CGI is indulged in but its easy to forgive in a film as wicked and blackly comic as this.

The film is disturbing for a 15 as well, again this is a mark of tension that Raimi creates with the score and camera work throughout the film.

So incredibly refreshing to see a horror film with out the hallmarks of the recent saw franchise.

Special mention for the ending, which has conviction and guts and was the proverbial cherry on top of the cake - throughly entertaining.

An original tale of a young woman’s desperate quest to break an evil curse.

Christine Brown (Alison Lohman) is an ambitious L.A. loan officer with a charming boyfriend, professor Clay Dalton (Justin Long).

Life is good until the mysterious Mrs. Ganush (Lorna Raver) arrives at the bank to beg for an extension on her home loan.

Should Christine follow her instincts and give the old woman a break?

Or should she deny the extension to impress her boss!

Sarah and Jillian have been best friends for so long they can’t remember when their friendship started.

Growing up in the small town of Goshen, Indiana the two girls couldn’t be more different.

Sarah is a star pupil and athlete, a 100-watt-bulb in a five-watt-town, while Jillian is star mischief-maker, a 100lbs-of-trouble in a five-pound-bag.

Although both girls long to be break free of the small-town life, Jillian is the first to act, revealing to Sarah that she has been meeting men on-line with the sole purpose of finding someone who will “take her away from this place”.

Soon thereafter, she disappears leaving Sarah with only a journal and a cryptic video message sent from her cell-phone.

Sarah soon discovers that the town would rather forget that Jillian had ever existed. Distraught, she delves into the secrets surrounding her disappearance.

This won’t spoil the changes to the story for you but it does a lot to separate itself from the original.

I’ve always been a fan of the Terminator series, T2 was one of the first films I can actually remember watching as a kid and comprehending the plot, matching it with the commodore computer games pack T2.

Like a lot of people I was kinda let down by T3.

Hardcore terminator fans might want to avoid this, it was better than T3 but still pretty far off the quality of the first two, still, if its a Summer Blockbuster you want then go see Terminator Salvation, you could do a lot worse.

Set in post-apocalyptic 2018, John Connor is the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators.

But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright, a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row.

Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or resc0ued from the past.

As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet’s operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.

There’s an old saying in Hebrew that claims that if you try and catch as much as you can, you’ll end up having nothing at all.

After viewing Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, sadly the same can be said when regarding this lesser sequel to the 2006 smash hit.

Too many of the best comedy moments were shown in the trailers, so kind of dampening the effect of many of the genuinely funny moments.

But there’s still enough to keep you chuckling away!

So should there be a third? If they can continue to make people laugh whilst rummaging through their popcorn during the action scenes, I’d say why not?

After all, what is life without a bit of fun?

This is a British horror film about a group of young campers who get lost in the woods but thankfully don’t get picked off by a man in a mask. nice

Instead what starts out as a fairly standard slasher setup turns into a creepy and rather effective supernatural horror film.

It’s actually pretty scary in places too!

The excellent writing and fantastic actors help a lot too as you really get to know and like the characters before they get into the story.

But the real surprises in this film are the mind-blowing special effects used sparingly for maximum effect.

The film is a real achievement and definitely one for horror fans to look out for!

I wonder what people expect from a silly movie about a bumbling policeman getting into embarrassing situations.

The most usual comment from critics is that Peter Sellers was a much better Clouseau.

I am a big fan of the original movies.

What Peter Sellers had that Steve Martin is lacking is the arrogance.

I am talking about the arrogance Peter Sellers’ Clouseau displayed when had just made a fool of himself.

Nevertheless,  Steve Martin made a good Clouseau.

Would you use Windows XP if it was presented like Windows 3.5 or Windows 95? I don’t think so, so please - give this a chance!

After having been rewarded for solving the mystery of the Pink Panther Diamond, inspector Jacques Clouseau has been assigned to minor tasks by his boss inspector Dreyfus so as not to have him in his way anymore.

Unfortunately, the famous diamond has once again been stolen as have many other artifacts in a series of burglaries around the world.
