Necessary Evil

21 May

After a good kick off the movie is surprising and takes weird turns and I liked that.

The sound editors could have done a better job and the empty spaces in sound made me wonder sometimes.

Necessary evil is also a game book but its hard to tell if this movie is related to that.

This movie did not get that much attention must have been because its weirdness but then again, Danny Trejo does what he does best and some other well known actors showed their typical faces.

Therefore this movie deserves more attention.

Everyone who likes a psychedelic weird surprise will probably enjoy this movie.

And that this partly less experienced actors and writers/directors could have pulled this off is worth a Praise.

Breathing Room

20 May

The suspense was fairly good.

Its not a film you’ll fall asleep while watching and certainly interesting to watch.

Thrown naked into a desolate room with thirteen strangers, Tonya (Ailsa Marshall) discovers that she is the final contestant in a deadly game.

Restrained by lethal electronic collars, the players must utilize hints and tools from a box marked “pieces” to find both an exit and the reason for their abduction.

Also known as ‘Room to Breathe‘ -  full of surprises at ET.

It’ll remind you of another major franchise of films.

The International

19 May

Wasn’t sure what really to expect, for those who didn’t like it, Im sure they were just looking for something to complain about as it was really well done.

There was plenty of really intense moments and more importantly the characters had really clear motivation.

Even the bad guys were well done, though they represent the opposition to Clive owen’s character, you can still see their humanity.

In The International, Interpol Agent Louis Salinger and Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Eleanor Whitman are determined to bring to justice one of the world’s most powerful banks.

Uncovering illegal activities including money laundering, arms trading, and the destabilization of governments, Salinger and Whitman’s investigation takes them from Berlin to Milan to New York and to Istanbul.

The Lost Treasure Of The Grand Canyon

18 May

This movie is so predictable, you’ll think you were the one who produced it.

Once again, the writers for the Sci-Fi Channel original movies got so very original that they made a complete mish-mash of the Aztecs, their culture and their mythology.

Nineteenth century archeologists seeking lost treasure find bad things instead,  and the self-serving bitch Hildy, nicely performed by Ms. Doerksen.

Its got mixed reviews this one so judge for your self ;)

In the early days of the 20th Century, an expedition led by Dr. Samuel Jordon traveled deep into the Grand Canyon in search of a long-rumored hidden city.

The entire team disappeared, but when Jordon’s archaeologist daughter Susan (Shannen Doherty) leads a rescue party into the uncharted valley, she will discover an ancient civilization ruled by savage warriors, human sacrifice and a mythological monster that feeds on carnage.

MUM & DAD (They’re Dying to meet you)!

17 May

I’m a big fan of horror films and but I have to say that quite often film makers are too easily tempted into throwing gratuitous sex in as a way of selling their films.

To this extent I was quite impressed with the way this film suggested that this was just around the corner and instead stuck to gore as a way of shocking its audience. ;)

As a dark comedy, the elements were very subtle.

I know a few reviews have centred on the fact that it’s not ‘laugh out loud’ and that’s true, but the way it takes what are otherwise normal family interactions but completely twists them with this warped family works very well.

That’s where the humour lies – sibling rivalry but arguing about theft and murder rather than who has the most chips.

There’s also some of the most imaginative use of human body parts as decorations that would put Leatherface and his family to shame.

;) nice

If you like horror films, I’d watch this. ;) magic

Echelon Conspiracy

16 May

Shane West is a computer programmer who is mailed a cellphone anonymously while in Thailand.

He is also being hunted by factions of the US government as well as other people interested in the messages he’s getting through usage of the new phone.

This is a must see :)

While on a business trip in Russia, young computer technician Max Peterson (West) receives a high-tech cell phone in the mail that dispenses advice via anonymous text messages.

After initially writing the phone off as a promotional gift from the hotel, Peterson is saved from boarding a doomed airplane thanks to the warnings of the inexplicably omniscient device, and so he’s not entirely reluctant to try out its suggestions at a local casino. Naturally this attracts the wrong attention.

Confessions of a Shopaholic

15 May

The actors were all terrific.

The “chemistry” was there.

The storyline was interesting (not deep, somewhat predictable, but still pleasant and interesting).

I laughed a lot throughout the film.

The movie did a good job of showing why people are shopaholics and how this addiction is so dangerous.

The message was not so heavy as to detract from the feel-good angle of the movie, but it did try to display how ridiculous and shallow it is to be so defined by things.

You negative folks need to lighten up.

Personally, I really enjoyed this movie! hehe :P

Struggling with her debilitating obsession with shopping and the sudden collapse of her income source, Rebecca Bloomwood unintentionally lands a job writing for a financial magazine after a drunken letter-mailing mix-up.

Ironically writing about the very consumer caution of which she herself has not abided, Rebecca’s innovative comparisons and unconventional metaphors for economics grants her critical acclaim, public success, and the admiration of her supportive boss Luke.

Obsessed

14 May

This movie could of been a huge success, but they hired really bad actors and actresses except the girl that played the temp, she’s a good actress, she knows better than to sign up for this stuff ;)

There’s a new temp in the office (Ali Larter) and the two of them hit it off but only after he gives her a snotty look with the remark, “You’re a temp?” and they go out to a flashy glitzy club and share drinks and before you know it, they’re all over each other right away.

There is no nudity or explicit sex involved.

There’s just a lot of groping and grinding, sorry guys. ;)

Derek Charles is a hard working man, employed as a asset manager in a private company.

He is very happy with his beautiful wife, Sharon, and only son, and because of his hard work he just got a huge promotion.

But suddenly he gets a temporary worker who is both attractive and smart, and Derek is understandably impressed with her and also finds himself physically drawn to her.

The Girlfriend Experience

13 May

The Girlfriend Experience is about a high class escort living in New York an dealing with a boyfriend, clients, her business and politics.

Throughout the film numerous references are made to the 2008 election.

What’s incredible about this film is it was made on a shoestring budget in two weeks and like Bubble the cast is made up of non-actors.

Sasha Grey is somewhat of an exception :) in the sense that she did work on a couple of movies before this but this is her fist real film.

Grey is so good in this film you wouldn’t believe that this is her first film and she’s so stunning you definitely wouldn’t believe that she’s worked on hundreds of pornos ranging hardcore to slightly soft core. :D

Angels and Demons

12 May

Nothing new for those who have read the book other than to see it come alive.

For those who haven’t, this film may just compel you to pick up Dan Brown’s novel just to read a bit more about the significance about the landmarks, and characters such as Galileo, Michelangelo and Bernini who are intricately linked to the plot, but much left unsaid.

Satisfying pop-corn entertainment. ;)

What terrifying discovery would make the Vatican turn to Robert Langdon, the man who cracked history’s most controversial code?

When Langdon discovers evidence of the resurgence of an ancient secret brotherhood known as the Illuminati “the most powerful underground organization in history” he also faces a deadly threat to the existence of the secret organization’s most despised enemy: the Catholic Church.

Upon learning that the clock is ticking on an unstoppable Illuminati time bomb, Langdon travels to Rome, where he joins forces with Vittoria Vetra, a beautiful and enigmatic Italian scientist.

Embarking on a nonstop, action-packed hunt through sealed crypts, dangerous catacombs, deserted cathedrals, and even to the heart of the most secretive vault on earth, Langdon and Vetra will follow the 400-year-old Path of Illumination that marks the Vatican’s only hope for survival.
