Hardwired

The plot is fairly simple.

But the low budget is apparent.

Special effects were OK but you could tell they were done to try and amaze instead of just to blend in with the movie.

Overall, hugely disappointed in Val Kilmer and Cuba Gooding Jr. we like them both as actors and Val has done some great stuff recently but this was woeful.

Films can either be shot in real street or in those pretend streets in film lots, with the obligatory drain steaming away.

After a tragic accident claims the lives of Luke Gibsonâ€™s (Gooding Jr.) wife and unborn child, he is left with critical injuries and complete amnesia.

A new technological breakthrough from the Hexx Corporation â€“ a Psi-Comp Implant thatâ€™s hardwired into Lukeâ€™s brain â€“ saves his life, but Luke soon finds out that this new technology comes with a price and that the Hexx Corporation harbors sinister plans for the new device.

Wolvesbayne

Jeremy London is a greedy real estate developer who falls victim to the curse of the werewolf.

A lot of vampire backstory is discussed before the story gets off to an interesting start, but then plunges downhill.

Even though it’s a werewolf vs vampire movie, werewolves are sorely missing in the final product, even though two major characters are werewolves and the werewolves are considered the good guys.

Once more, vampires are shoved down our throats.

Still, Yancy Butler gives a craptacular performance as Lilith and the two main leads do a decent job with the awful material they’ve been given.

It’s nice seeing Christy Carlson Romano in something, though she deserves better.

A real plus for the movie is that it’s actually pretty funny at times.

After a man is bitten by a werewolf, he discovers thats the least of his worries.

He finds himself in the middle of a full-on war between vampires, werewolves, and human hunters.

Tinker Bell And The Lost Treasure

All fans of Tinker Bell and her first movie have no reason to worry; “Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure” is a full-worthy sequel to the first movie.

Considering that there’s only one year of absence between the movies, the filmmakers have done a good job to make this a complete movie and not only a product for cash-cowing, like it easily could have been.

The film focus more on the relationship between Tink and Terence this time, which serves the movie well. Tink herself is presented as a versatile character and the fact that she actually talks feels never distracting in neither of the movies.

Otherwise, this film has the cuteness-factor like the first flick had, which only makes the experience more enjoyable, but it’s also a bit more edgier in terms of the adventurous plot.

The animation is even better this time, the characters are still likable and the cute score of Joel McNeely fits the movie well. Besides, there are more humor in the screenplay.

This yearâ€™s Autumn Revelry promises to be something special.

A blue harvest moon will rise, allowing the fairies to use a precious moonstone to restore the Pixie Dust Tree â€” the source of all their magic.

But when Tinker Bell accidentally puts all of Pixie Hollow in jeopardy, she must venture out across the sea on a secret quest to set things right.

With some help from her friend Terence â€” and a charming, rascally firefly named Blaze â€” Tink braves an astonishing new world and discovers the greatest treasure of all.

Dying God

The monster idea was the best part of the film and what made it watchable.

The film has an interesting idea, but that’s pretty much where it ends.

The acting and oddity of listening to to a mix of English and French accented English in a South American industrial city is a bit too much.

Sort of like watching it filmed in a French Canadian province for a story that’s supposed to take place in Brazil.

The lack of fit gave it that b-movie/TV quality despite a good soundtrack and believable FX.

The director and caster get responsibility for it.

The stereotypical dirty cop, hookers, relationships, cigarettes, and drugs just didn’t fit.

n a dark and decadent city, Sean Fallon (James Horan) â€“ a corrupt cop â€“ will have to face his own demons to put an end to a series of brutal rapes and murders of the most weirdest kind.

With the help of the local pimps, headed by Chance (Lance Henriksen), Fallon will go the hunt for the serial killer, that may in the end not be human!

Hurricane Hunter

Most of the action takes place on board the plane so badly made it falls to pieces doing the job it is supposed to be suitable for.

On the ground the director of the National Storm Center refuses to heed her warnings (for a director of such a facility he seems unable to understand the significance of the data he’s sent her to collect and unwilling to listen to anyone else’s analysis of it).

The movie ends as the hurricane hits landfall, so this a movie about a hurricane that doesn’t in fact feature a hurricane.

When a minor hurricane strikes just off the coast of Florida, meteorologist Leah Kaplan (Daryl Hannah) and her team fly into the storm to observe the effects.

But what seems like a routine mission is anything but when the hurricane grows into a churning tempest.

Now itâ€™s a race against time for the crew â€” and a conservative-leaning reporter (Dylan Neal) on board â€” to get the aircraft back on land and warn everyone about the storm.

The Rebound

There’s none of the commercial, fake feel some romantic comedies have, or the ones that try to be funny and are not, this is a daring romantic comedy, really in tune with our times that breaks with some stereotypes.

Great acting, both by the adults and the kids, interesting storyline, and nice imagery of New York City.

When a beautiful, smart, suburban 40-year-old mother discovers her husband is cheating, she takes her two children to New York City to start over.

A demanding new job forces her to hire a nanny, and she chooses 25-year-old Aram, who is still trying to figure out what he wants in life.

As Aram increasingly becomes attached to her kids, Aram and Sandy become aware of their own undeniable chemistry.

The Rebound is a fresh, witty, and sexy comedy about an unexpected romance.

Surrogates

Surrogates is a sci-fi movie about a future where every human being can connect their bodies into machines & they instantly live a different life through their robotic human-looking surrogates.

Anybody can just stay home all day while they are connected online with their surrogates that can just easily live outside in the real world.

But when a surrogate was killed along with its user, FBI agent Greer unravels a conspiracy that can lead to the death of billions of lives.

The surrealism of the movie is not too far-out that most of what you see seem like they exist in the present world; there are no flying cars or rockets everywhere; its just the simple existence and presence of mannequin-like robots everywhere.

The storyline may be good enough to be enjoyably satisfying, but it certainly is not the best, or perhaps not good enough to be groundbreaking.

All in all, Surrogares is one of those good sci-fi movies that will simply entertain those who are fans of smart sci-fi movies.

Action junkies may be a little disappointed though.

This is a far cry from Blade Runner, but this certainly gives you a cheaper version of that kind of enjoyment – But it is definitely not unforgettable.

People are living their lives remotely from the safety of their own homes via robotic surrogates â€” sexy, physically perfect mechanical representations of themselves.

Itâ€™s an ideal world where crime, pain, fear and consequences donâ€™t exist.

When the first murder in years jolts this utopia, FBI agent Greer (Willis) discovers a vast conspiracy behind the surrogate phenomenon and must abandon his own surrogate, risking his life to unravel the mystery.

An Old Fashioned Thanksgiving

The warm family relationships that abound in this production makes the movie an appealing one.

Taking place after the civil war, it chronicles the life of a widow with 3 children who are poverty stricken.

The eldest daughter, a writer with a great imagination, concocts a story that ultimately draws their wealthy grandmother to their New Hampshire home.

Jackie Bisset plays the stern grandmother.

She is entirely too young for the part; nevertheless, she gives a gem of a performance as a wealthy matron who married a much older widower than she and had a daughter with him to secure herself financially.

The daughter ran away years before with a stable boy who has now died.

The film also deals with a getting kind grandmother who will go to any length to get her children and grandchildren out of the poverty cycle.

It is a nicely done film with a triumph of the family spirit in this season of giving.

This Holiday film is based upon Louisa Mae Alcottâ€™s book of the same title.

It is set in New Hampshire shortly post Civil War and follows a young widowed motherâ€™s determination to carry on with the rearing of her three children in spite of the hardships that come about as a result of the loss of their father in the War.

Things look pretty bleak nearing the Thanksgiving Holiday and the children, wishing to have a nice Thanksgiving Day dinner for their mom decide, without their mothers knowledge, to turn to their heretofore estranged but wealthy Grandmother for help in making their wish come true.

The Tournament

Filming is good, nothing too dark or menacing but just nice.

It’s not Battle Royale but if action is your thing and you liked Death Race 2000, Shoot Em’Up or Wanted then you’ll be happy enough.

Any gripes about morality are irrelevant here, this is in a moral vacuum, and so are plot holes, logic, or how heads explode like watermelons, this is either your type of film or you should really it avoid totally.

Yep, it’s violent – limbs fly, people die in well, imaginative ways – but it is not horror.

It’s all well put together, nicely cast, and creates enough interest; better than just hunt or be hunted there is a real plot and even character development.

Fight scenes are marvelously staged, with great fight choreography, but also outstanding gunplay and vehicle stunts.

When it comes to the sheer amount of action “The Tournament” gives you the most for bang for the buck.

It is very hard to invent some new kinds of action set-pieces and choreographies but in a couple of scenes “The Tournament” does that.

Also, you must bear in mind that action is very violent and gory.

The sheer amount of gore is comparable to Neill Blomkamp’s “District 9″.

Bloodletting is stylish and lavish and Scott Mann really has the guts (quite literally) to pull it off.

Every seven years in an unsuspecting town, The Tournament takes place.

A battle royale between 30 of the worldâ€™s deadliest assassins.

The last man standing receiving the $10,000,000 cash prize and the title of Worlds No 1, which itself carries the legendary million dollar a bullet price tag.

My Year Without Sex

It was initially touted to as a comedy but I think it would be better put into the lighthearted drama category.

When some catastrophic events occurred within the first 10 minutes many parts of it struck a chord, particularly the couple fighting to keep intimacy under the monotony and strain of everyday life.

Matt Day gives a good performance as the husband with a lot of his plate fighting temptation.

Well worth a look, but take your tissues

This is sort of a of a love story about a family dealing with all the big questions and even more of the small ones.

Set over one messy year, Ross and Natalie and their two kids, Louis and Ruby, navigate nits, faith, Christmas, job insecurity, footy practice, more nits, and whether they will ever have sex again.
