My opinion:-
Most of us saw the previous chapters of SAW sequence ( Saw (2004), Saw II (2005), Saw III (2006), Saw IV (2007), Saw V (2008), Saw VI (2009), Saw 3D (2010) ). And I know that we differentiate in tastes and interests. But, with the last chapter of this sequence Saw 3D (2010), I’m sure that all who watched this chapter unite with one point of view which is “This Chapter Sucks”. I mean can you imagine the fans’ expectations on the way to watch this movie according to the previous chapters’ reputation. It really let me down. Comparing with the previous sequence “specially the first one”, this chapter is nothing. I don’t know maybe I’m being tough on this movie, maybe I got used to the story that made me loose interest and expecting the same idea all over again, maybe this movie being the final is indigestible to me.
Spoiler Alert: I’m sorry but I have to say the following as it is the most unnecessary scene in the movie. The Dream of Jigsaw’s wife – Jill Tuck (Betsy Russell). is not necessary at all to be added as a scene in this movie.
It’s like the movie makers were trying to extend the movie with some disturbing scenes as hard as they can to just reach its required time line. Even-though, This movie is a combination of two chapters that were planned to be made as two movies. But, due to Saw VI’s below average box office performance, they decided to end the series with one last movie ( Saw 3D (2010) ), which should address unanswered questions from previous Saw films.
This was my personal opinion, and I approve this message.
Stars in the movie:-
well, It’s hard to measure the performance of the actors in this movie.Because, I think 90% of this movie performs the visual effects as 3D, the traps design and the answers of the audience’s questions which have been hanged from the previous chapters, leaving the other 10% for the acting which didn’t take that much of care.
All of the actors did what they had to do as the movie needs. What I mean is that, this movie is not like The Godfather to see and judge the acting performance. In this movie, you don’t get the goose bumps because of an amazing acting scene, all the thrill you get is when someone is trapped and fighting for his life.
The visual Effeciancy:-
In this chapter, The 3D feature came up. The movie was shot entirely using the SI-3D digital camera system, rather than filming on set traditionally and later transferring the footage to 3D. The traps and sets were designed to take advantage of the 3D feature. This chapter was the most expensive chapter of the series, because of the the 3D filming which made the budget between $17 and $20 million.
In the term of 3D, the audiance experianced a whole new and more exiting side of the series. Objects that run and fly toward the audiance, blood splashing, etc… And that made the audiance live the movie.
And as I see it, it was a great idea to come up with a new and meaningful feature to present the final chapter of the series to the fans, Which absorbed the fans’ disappointment that is caused by the ending. So, finally, The 3D filming satisfied the fans.
Facts about the movie:-
Paramount Pictures’ Paranormal Activity 2 is considered as a big competitor of Lions Gate’s Saw 3D, because of the near release dates:-
-Paranormal Activity 2 (22 October 2010).
-Saw 3D (29 October 2010)
Now, let’s make a comparison between this chapter and the previous one, according to their budgets and gross:-
