Feast Of Love

Sunday, February 10th, 2008

Feast of love, this is a post I’ve been meaning to do since October.

It is a romantic drama with some comic elements but a great deal of in-your-face depressing reality, too.

All of the principal players are good, bringing depth to a story that could be dismissed, at times, as being overly melodramatic.

As for the Portland scenery, it is lovely, as are the costumes and camera work. Also, fans of the cast will want to see it, too. But, be forewarned that some tears might fall and that the experience overall will be bittersweet. ;) magic

Blue State

Sunday, February 10th, 2008

This is a romantic comedy about a disgruntled Democrat who follows through on a drunken campaign promise to move to Canada if George Bush gets re-elected.

The film does rip in-to President Bush quite often, it starts out very well, but it lost steam in the second half and never recovered.

It stars Brecking Meyer and Anna Paquin, who also served as executive-producer of the film. ;)

Did you know: George Bush plays himself ;) (archive footage)

Welcome Stranger

Friday, February 8th, 2008

Well there is a story behind the packers who packed this, but for now we will leave it at that ;) anyway on with the show…

personally I’ve not seen this, it was released back in 2006, here’s a quick outline on it. ;)

After several years without any contact, Luke is eager for a reunion.

Adam sets off to meet up with his childhood mate.

What follows is a sequence of chain reactions with Luke’s family members, overlaid with a drug and alcohol binge.

Through a series of funny, sad and violent clashes it becomes clear that the stranger has little in common with the people he has been thrown in with.

What all these characters do share though is an intense desire to be something more than what they are.

The Eye

Friday, February 8th, 2008

This here is a scary movie, it’s an Asian remake of a film released back in 2002 named Gin gwai.

The low budget scares in this one get old, very quick.

It is a film which tries too hard and doesn’t get anywhere, it has shots of long empty hallways, some other folk have also told us; it doesn’t look like a horror nor a remake either.

A young, blind violinist is given the chance to see for the first time since childhood through a miraculous corneal transplant, but as she adjusts to a dizzying new world of colors and shapes, she is haunted by frightening visions of death itself capturing the doomed and dragging them away from the world of the living.

Terrorized and on the brink of insanity, she must discover whose eyes she has inherited, and what secret visions they have held. :)

Meet The Spartans

Friday, February 1st, 2008

Okay here is Meet the Spartans, this film personally i didn’t like, this is the comments of me not ET or its affilliates ;) it has very poor jokes in it, it is meant to run 84 minutes but runs for 60, however there is also a 90 minute version as well, somebody must have messed up? ;)

It is a spoof film but everything they spoofed, well i will let you make up your own minds, the makers of Scary Movie should have done this - meaning all the production crew.

The warriors of 300 might have been able to hold their own–at least for awhile, against an army of thousands, but can they defend themselves against this satire? lol ;)

Untraceable

Friday, February 1st, 2008

Untraceable is the type of film that will get you interested very early on in.

I liked the way the film was directed, as the suspense in the film is magic, you don’t get grossed out by it but it’s classic features like, not being able to see who’s doing it.

All in all the movie won’t disappoint anyone, the final minutes are intense and well written, and the ending will satisfy all.

Live on-line the more people who log on and enter the website, the quicker and more violently the victim dies.

Suspenseful, intense and action oriented, it also has a relevant and accurate message about todays society. Why do we watch this sort of thing, watch then think about it :)

Rambo

Friday, February 1st, 2008

The project’s budget was 50m so there are many real-like explosions and effects, its a film which starts very fast with action from the beginning.

The film franchise has spun out over 3 decades and well this didn’t live up to the previous film’s, but John Rambo is one I would recomend (my spelling is shocking) ;) , again if your an action fan, but expect some cheezie bits, and at ET we love reviews like this :) make some noize

John Rambo is to guide Christian Aid workers up the Salween River to give medical supplies to the Karen tribe of neighboring Burma.

When the missionaries fail to return, Rambo is persuaded to take a group of mercenaries back into the war-torn border region to find them. What follows is a descent into hell on earth.

The Golden Compass

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

The story was changed slightly compared to the book, but not too much.

The effects are magic!. The flow of the daemons in the film was almost completely convincing, however there were times when the speech of the animals had that typical “computer animated falseness” that you see in the cg cartoons.

Other than some minor CG blemishes, the realism is some of the most convincing.

The polar bear is completely lifelike and the animal morphing was magic.
