Superman Doomsday

30 Jun

Super!

As an animated movie, this one isn’t too bad.

The story and the great action sequences are magic and there are some great fight scenes.

But if you’re really into the history behind the battle between Superman and Doomsday and the aftermath (in other words,if you’ve read the comic version of the events) you might be disappointed, as  it is that faithful to the source material.

Beyond that, the movie does seem a little rushed.

They may have tried to jam too much into the short 75 minute running time.

The movie is entertaining.

You shouldn’t get bored watching it, DC has done better though! ;)

When LexCorps accidentally unleash a murderous creature, Doomsday, Superman meets his greatest challenge as a champion.

ooooohh yeeahhh!! :)

enjoy! ;) magic

Transformers

22 Jun

Michael Bay doesn’t disappointed us.

The robots are cool as much as they can be.

Bay’s vision about the cult-comic and animation of the eighties has become one of the greatest effect-movie of all time.

However must disapprove that the Decepticons lost their personality, they’re just mainly destroying and killing machines, Megatron and Starscream are more complex characters like they’re featured in the movie.

Spielberg and Bay has created a gigantic, spectacular and funny summer blockbuster movie, that the sequel manufacturer studios can consider as an example. So, Transformers is more than meets the eye!

See what happened before Optimus Prime and Megatron came to Earth in the stylized, action-packed prequel, Transformers: Beginnings.

On their home planet of Cybertron, the Autobots and Decepticons are involved in an explosive battle over the coveted AllSpark.

Narrated by the voice of Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen), this gripping adventure is an essential for every Transformers fan. nice

The Horsemen

20 Jun

I don’t know about you, but when I sit down to watch a horror film, I don’t expect to be blown away.

This movie lived up to the expectations in all the important ways.

Curiosity was jump started in the first scene, and the somber, introspective mood of the story line, spiked with horrific scenarios and sickening plot twists.

The final twist was too easily guessed, of course, but it didn’t take away from the finale – a powerfully emotional scene portrayed very convincingly by Dennis Quaid, who brought his usual energy and charisma to the role. nice

If you’re looking for a quality horror flick or suspense thriller, this one is well worth your while!

At home his home, hardened police detective Aidan (Dennis Quaid) has grown increasingly distant from his two young sons Alex (Lou Taylor Pucci) and Sean (Liam James) since the death of his wife.

At his work, he finds himself thrust into an investigation of perverse serial killings rooted in the Biblical prophecy of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse: The White Horsemen, a master of deception and the unexpected leader hell-bent on conquest.

Push

19 Jun

We at ET-Blog are reviewing the latest Blu-Ray releases, check them at here  ;)

Although more time could have been spent explaining certain things in detail instead of the constant scenes of standing around and pondering the next move.

The visual effects in this film are pretty good. And the acting isn’t too bad either.

Applause for Dakota Fanning and Chris Evans.

Also, the way the movie was shot, there was somehow this sense of realism to the whole thing.

The Division, a shadowy government agency, is genetically transforming citizens into an army of psychic warriors–and brutally disposing of those unwilling to participate.

Nick Gant, a second-generation telekinetic or “mover,” has been in hiding since the Division murdered his father more than a decade earlier.

He has found sanctuary in densely populated Hong Kong–the last safe place on earth for fugitive psychics like him–but only if he can keep his gift a secret.

have fun! ;) magic

Terminator 2: Judgement Day

18 Jun

Who said sequels aren’t any good? “Terminator 2″ is the ultimate sequel, a big bad wolf ready to chomp the head off of anyone who crosses its path.

It’s dark, it’s mean, and it’s one tough movie.

It’s not as bleak as the first film, at least in terms of visuals, but rather has a new kind of bluish-tint that supplies a great backdrop to the ongoing battle between man and machine.

Yeah, he’s “back.” Arnold (like he needs any introduction?) returns as The Terminator, Series T-101, Model T-800, an indestructible cyborg sent from the future to assassinate Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) in the first film.

Well, it’s 1991. New film. New mission.

He has to save the future resistance leader of mankind who will ultimately defeat the machines of the future, John Connor (Edward Furlong), Sarah’s 11-year-old son.

(Though his age has been switched from 11 to 13 and back to 9 over the years, with no help from the third film that takes place in 2003, yet claims he was 13 in 1991 though his age doesn’t match with his age in the third, we’ll just leave it at 11 in this film ;)

The Goonies

17 Jun

Anyone who grew up in the 80’s will list the Goonies as one of their favourite films, or at least look back at it with a misty eye.

It had everthing you could want, thrills, spills, pirates, booty, adventure, freaks and bad guys.

Even the place where they lived was cool.

A big old house in a picturesque bay town.

You didn’t get houses like that where we lived. ;)

Then there were the Goonies themselves who just seemed so cool.

Data’s gadgets and smart mouthed ..erm.. Mouth. awesome!!

A ruthless crime family calling themselves the “Fratellis” have somehow escaped from jail and are now hiding in a town of Astoria, Oregan.

Home of a secret kid society known as “The Goonies”, their leader is Michael “Mikey” Walsh, and they are enjoying their last weekend together as a system of contractors have bought their neighborhood and are considering on transforming it into a golf course.

However Mikey, stumbles upon a mysterious map to a treasure of a famed pirate “One-Eyed” Willie.

Classic scene – I’ll show you a tremor hahaha and the truffle shuffle ;)

Fatal Attraction

16 Jun

This is one heck of a thriller that combines terrific acting from Michael Douglas and Glenn Close with a thought-provoking story.

Douglas’ married Dan Gallagher and Close’s Alex Forrest have a steamy affair while his wife is away – except that Alex decides that it’s not over.

Her Alex is a maniacal nutcase who isn’t above anything to keep Dan for herself, including terrorizing his family and kidnapping his daughter.

There is a larger issue here, though, and one that was discussed when the film was released: Aside from the moral problems of adultery, doesn’t Alex have a point ?

Isn’t she entitled to something besides simply being used for a night or two ?

The tension in this film is constant, although a lot of it seems too easily foreshadowed.

Overall, though, a terrific thriller and a justifiably huge hit.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army

03 Nov

posterFor anyone interested in a bizarre, unique, visual stunner of gleeful monster madness (like me) I’d say catch this flick.

For anyone else…I might suggest you stay away. ;)

In the first creature-feature, the story was a near laughable plot involving Rasputin, a couple of regenerating hell-hounds, and some other forgettable nonsense.

What made “Hellboy” succeed, was the director’s visual panache and enriching vision, Ron Perlman’s insta’ classic turn as the titular character, a bizarre yet beautiful set and monster design, and a superb, hilarious dose of self-aware humor.

Take all those ingredients, and add some elements that better it, and you have the upgraded, perfected version of what del Toro attempted to achieve in round 1.

In this continuation to the adventure of the demon superhero, an evil elf breaks an ancient pact between humans and creatures, as he declares war against humanity.

He is on a mission to release The Golden Army, a deadly group of fighting machines that can destroy the human race.

The Invisible

08 Oct

This is one of those films I was wanting to see as it did sound interesting, but sadly I didn’t around to it, here’s a brief outline of the plot.

Plot: The spirit of a semi-dead boy makes good in this WB-network-flavored tale, which is an adaptation of the young-adult novel by Swedish author Mats Wahl.

A privileged and not very well-liked senior in his Seattle high school, brooding poet Nick (Justin Chatwin) winds up fingered for ratting out tough girl Annie (Margarita Levieva) to the cops for a jewelry heist.

Soon his spirit is running loose trying to connect with the people around him, but only animals seem to notice; everyone else just goes about their business.

Meanwhile, his body is lying concealed in a sewer tunnel and Annie is the only one “invisible” enough to understand his pain.

Genre: Drama / Fantasy / Mystery / Thriller

Directed by: David S. Goyer
Starring: Justin Chatwin, Margarita Levieva

Runtime: 97 minutes
