Polar Express (BRR)

This isn’t the 3-D version, but it looks well neat

It is quite an imaginative and innovative achievement–impressive enough to assure its place among future Christmas favorites with unlimited appeal for the young in heart.

The message of Christmas is lightly hinted at but when Tom Hanks as the train conductor tells the little boy, “The true meaning of Christmas is in your heart,” we can be assured that children everywhere will definitely “get it”.

So if you really love christmas, come on and let it snow!

This is the story of a young hero boy on Christmas Eve who boards on a powerful magical train thatâ€™s headed to the North Pole and Santa Clausâ€™s home.

What unfolds is an an adventure which follows a doubting boy, who takes an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole; during this ride, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery which shows him that the wonder of life never fades for those who believe.

Happy Feet

The musical numbers, instead of having a disrupting effect and stopping the flow of the story, actually advance the plot because they’re integral to the story and this particular type of penguin.

Emperor Penguins apparently find their mates by singing.

While it all sounds the same to us, they are highly attuned to each others songs.

The film cleverly translates that idea to the screen by having these animated penguins sing iconic pop/rock songs.

The animation is top notch and the style perfectly suited for the story.

This isn’t the goofy cartoonish animation seen in this past year’s other animal-oriented films.

It’s very rich and leaning heavily towards realism.

The vast icy landscapes seem to be copied straight from documentary footage.

In the cold land of Antarctica, the Emperor Penguins each express their true love with a special heartsong of their own that expresses their very being.

However, the misfit Mumble cannot sing, but instead has an extraordinary talent to tap dance with almost magical energy and expression.

Nevertheless, the deeply conformist leadership of the colony fearfully blames the young penguinâ€™s unorthodox ways for the lean fishing that threatens them all.

Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs

It was a really impressive film, a problem that many sequels run into is that they rely too heavily on the name of the franchise and hope it will blind the audience into liking a mediocre film.

This film didn’t have that, it stayed true to the characters and themes we have grown to love in the Ice Age franchise. nice!

After the events of â€œIce Age: The Meltdownâ€, life begins to change for Manny and his friends: Scrat is still on the hunt to hold onto his beloved acorn, while finding a possible romance in a female sabre-toothed squirrel named Scratte.

Manny and Ellie, having since become an item, are expecting a baby, which leaves Manny anxious to ensure that everything is perfect for when his baby arrives.

Diego is fed up with being treated like a house-cat and ponders the notion that he is becoming too laid-back.

Some reports to us say the 3D effect spoils it a bit, judge for yourself.

Superman Doomsday

Super!

As an animated movie, this one isn’t too bad.

The story and the great action sequences are magic and there are some great fight scenes.

But if you’re really into the history behind the battle between Superman and Doomsday and the aftermath (in other words,if you’ve read the comic version of the events) you might be disappointed, asÂ it is that faithful to the source material.

Beyond that, the movie does seem a little rushed.

They may have tried to jam too much into the short 75 minute running time.

The movie is entertaining.

You shouldn’t get bored watching it, DC has done better though!

When LexCorps accidentally unleash a murderous creature, Doomsday, Superman meets his greatest challenge as a champion.

The Goonies

Anyone who grew up in the 80’s will list the Goonies as one of their favourite films, or at least look back at it with a misty eye.

It had everthing you could want, thrills, spills, pirates, booty, adventure, freaks and bad guys.

Even the place where they lived was cool.

A big old house in a picturesque bay town.

You didn’t get houses like that where we lived.

Then there were the Goonies themselves who just seemed so cool.

Data’s gadgets and smart mouthed ..erm.. Mouth. awesome!!

A ruthless crime family calling themselves the â€œFratellisâ€ have somehow escaped from jail and are now hiding in a town of Astoria, Oregan.

Home of a secret kid society known as â€œThe Gooniesâ€, their leader is Michael â€œMikeyâ€ Walsh, and they are enjoying their last weekend together as a system of contractors have bought their neighborhood and are considering on transforming it into a golf course.

However Mikey, stumbles upon a mysterious map to a treasure of a famed pirate â€œOne-Eyedâ€ Willie.

Classic scene – I’ll show you a tremor hahaha and the truffle shuffle

Land of the Lost

Although the entire film looks like it needed a lot less green screened effects, there is still plenty of obvious effort put into the creatures that show up during the film.

The showpiece of a Tyrannosaurus Rex is incredibly detailed, and downright terrifying in some instances.

It is not the game changer like the T-Rex in Jurassic Park was sixteen years ago, but it still looks relatively magnificent.

The makeup effects to bring the ape/human hybrids and Sleestaks to life are just as good, if not better.

There’s plenty of reviews that are disappointing but judge for yourself!

Will Ferrell stars as has-been scientist Dr. Rick Marshall, sucked into one and spat back through time.

Now, Marshall has no weapons, few skills and questionable smarts to survive in an alternate universe full of marauding dinosaurs and fantastic creatures from beyond our world–a place of spectacular sights and super-scaled comedy known as the Land of the Lost.

Sucked alongside him for the adventure are crack-smart research assistant Holly (Anna Friel) and a redneck survivalist (Danny McBride) named Will.

Chased by T. rex and stalked by painfully slow reptiles known as Sleestaks, Marshall, Will and Holly must rely on their only ally; a primate called Chaka (Jorma Taccone) to navigate out of the hybrid dimension.

There aren’t many (or at least not enough) live-action movies that are engrossing as this cartoon.

Pixar Studios has gotten to be one of those movie icons that shouldn’t even have to deliver a premise to get funded anymore.

The moneymen should just shut up, hand over the money, and trust they’ll get a product that will appeal to everyone.

“Up” is a winner, and couldn’t be less surprised, anyone still putting a limit on how new and inventive they think a Pixar film can be deserves to have their socks blown off.

This new flick is the work of writers/directors Pete Docter and Bob Peterson, two guys who have each been around the making of Pixar flicks before.

Docter was a director on “Monsters Inc”, a writer on “Toy Story” and a co-writer and director on “Wall*E.” Peterson was a writer on “Finding Nemo”.

Comedy adventure about 78-year-old balloon salesman Carl Fredricksen, who finally fulfills his lifelong dream of a great adventure when he ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to the wilds of South America.

But he discovers all too late that his biggest nightmare has stowed away on the trip: an overly optimistic 8-year-old Wilderness Explorer named Russell.Â

Night At The Museum: Battle Of The Smithsonian

There’s an old saying in Hebrew that claims that if you try and catch as much as you can, you’ll end up having nothing at all.

After viewing Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, sadly the same can be said when regarding this lesser sequel to the 2006 smash hit.

Too many of the best comedy moments were shown in the trailers, so kind of dampening the effect of many of the genuinely funny moments.

But there’s still enough to keep you chuckling away!

So should there be a third? If they can continue to make people laugh whilst rummaging through their popcorn during the action scenes, I’d say why not?

After all, what is life without a bit of fun?Â

Security guard Larry Daley infiltrates the Smithsonian Institute in order to rescue Jedediah and Octavius, who have been shipped to the museum by mistake.

An American adventure comedy film, stars Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Amy Adams, Owen Wilson, Rami Malek, Hank Azaria, Alain Chabat, Bill Hader, Ricky Gervais, Christopher Guest and Steve Coogan.

The Pink Panther 2

I wonder what people expect from a silly movie about a bumbling policeman getting into embarrassing situations.

The most usual comment from critics is that Peter Sellers was a much better Clouseau.

I am a big fan of the original movies.

What Peter Sellers had that Steve Martin is lacking is the arrogance.

I am talking about the arrogance Peter Sellers’ Clouseau displayed when had just made a fool of himself.

Nevertheless,Â Steve Martin made a good Clouseau.

Would you use Windows XP if it was presented like Windows 3.5 or Windows 95? I don’t think so, so please – give this a chance!

After having been rewarded for solving the mystery of the Pink Panther Diamond, inspector Jacques Clouseau has been assigned to minor tasks by his boss inspector Dreyfus so as not to have him in his way anymore.

Unfortunately, the famous diamond has once again been stolen as have many other artifacts in a series of burglaries around the world.
