American Pie Beta House

Plot: In American Pie Presents: Beta House, the gang’s all-new hijinks take them from the town of Great Falls to a university in Michigan.

At the college, the party scene is in full swing, especially along fraternity row, where the competition for social supremacy is ferocious.

Our heroes Erik and Cooze pledge the infamous Beta Delta Xi House, and hilarity ensues as everyone gets swept up in the craziness, pranks, partying, and, of course, unpredictable sexual situations.

Pitted against a rival House and their power-hungry leader, the rivalry gets so intense that only the long-banned competition, The Games, can settle the question of which House prevails.

It’s up to the Betas to pull together and prove that some traditions deserve to be upheld!

Sounds very like Van Wilder 1 and 2 eh ;)
How many more can we take. Should have stopped at American Pie 2 :)

Killer Of Sheep

Saturday, December 8th, 2007

59f5.jpg

Stan (Henry Gayle Sanders) works long hours at his job in a slaughterhouse in Watts, Los Angeles.

The monotonous slaughter affects his home life with his beautiful unnamed wife (Kaycee Moore) and two children, Stan Jr. and Angela (Jack Drummond and Burnett’s niece, Angela).

Through a series of episodic events - some friends try to involve Stan in a criminal plot, a white woman propositions Stan in a store.

Stan and his friend Bracy (Charles Bracy) attempt to buy a car engine - a mosaic of an austere working-class life, in which Stan feels unable to affect the course of his life, emerges.

The futility of this envisioned life is leavened by moments of wry humor and beauty; the most famous scene is of Stan and his wife in an exhausted embrace, slow dancing to Dinah Washington’s “This Bitter Earth”.

The final scene is of Stan herding sheep down the metal corridor to their slaughter.

Bringing Out The Dead

Saturday, December 8th, 2007

717e.jpgSirens screaming and lights flashing, a New York City ambulance speeds through the night.

Its drivers are paramedics working the graveyard shift — men who come face-to-face with the dead and the dying on a daily basis.

Burnt out from one too many nights on the job, they are nearly as broken as the bodies they haul through the streets.

What keeps them going is their caustic sense of comedy, and an acrid view of a world which seems to have its surreal epicenter in Manhattan.

Nicolas Cage plays EMS paramedic Frank Pierce. It is the early 1990’s and New York has not yet undergone its renaissance of recent years.

Surrounded by the injured and the dying, Frank is dwelling in an urban night-world, crumbling under the accumulated weight of too many years of saving and losing lives.

The film follows Frank over the course of fifty-six hours in his life - two days and three nights on the job - as he reaches the very brink of spiritual collapse and redemption.

Genre: Drama / Thriller

Directed by: Martin Scorsese
Starring: Nicolas Cage, Patricia Arquette, John Goodman, Ving Rhames, Marc Anthony

Hamlet

Saturday, December 8th, 2007

aa3f.jpg

Hamlet, son of the king of Denmark, is summoned home for his father’s funeral and his mother’s wedding to his uncle.

In a supernatural episode, he discovers that his uncle, whom he hates anyway, murdered his father.

In an incredibly convoluted plot–the most complicated and most interesting in all literature–he manages to (impossible to put this in exact order) feign (or perhaps not to feign) madness, murder the “prime minister,” love and then unlove an innocent whom he drives to madness, plot and then unplot against the uncle, direct a play within a play, successfully conspire against the lives of two well-meaning friends, and finally take his revenge on the uncle, but only at the cost of almost every life on stage, including his own and his mother’s.

Genre: Drama / Crime / Romance / Thriller

Directed by: Kenneth Branagh
Starring: Riz Abbasi, Richard Attenborough, David Blair
