The Golden Compass
Saturday, January 26th, 2008
The story was changed slightly compared to the book, but not too much.
The effects are magic!. The flow of the daemons in the film was almost completely convincing, however there were times when the speech of the animals had that typical “computer animated falseness” that you see in the cg cartoons.
Other than some minor CG blemishes, the realism is some of the most convincing.
The polar bear is completely lifelike and the animal morphing was magic.

Computer-animated films are sharply observed visual comedy grafted over hilarious voice-over.
A corprate billionaire Edward Cole; and working class mechanic Carter Chambers have nothing in common in life except for their terminal illnesses.
Juno delivers a train-wreck of awkward moments one after another, which ends up making the film both uncomfortable and ultimately unenjoyable.
Plot: This is broken into 2 parts; first is about a man breaking into a genetic database storing medical information on the Icelandic people.
