New Windows 7 64 bit

Saturday, July 11th, 2009

While Windows Vista (launched in early 2007) addressed a number of Window’s XP’s biggest issues, most notably a much needed security refresh, Microsoft’s most current operating system (OS) came with its own string of new headaches, like incessant pop-ups and some frustrating incompatibilities (not to mention its own set of flaws).

Despite what those Mac vs. PC commercials might say, Microsoft has been listening, and its answer is Windows 7.

It recently gave a preview version to a number of early-access developers and journalists, so let’s run down some of the highlights of their early impressions of this OS that could still be several years away.

Improved User Interface
- Vista looks a lot like XP, an important thing for ease of transition from one operating system to the next.

So, naturally, Windows 7 will look an awful lot like Vista, but, that’s not to say that it won’t deliver a number of important additions, perhaps the biggest being a series of “gestures” that will interpret your mouse hovering over something as an indication that you’d like to see more information about it.

For those who didn’t know Windows is based on the original WIMP used on RISC OS machines which powered Archimedes machines, I know - I had one :D

WIMP was what was displayed “Windows, Icons, Menu and Pointer” i think.

A new version of Microsoft Windows

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

Windows 7 (Trial)

On 9 January members of the public will get the chance to download the successor to Windows for themselves.

Windows 7 would be the pivot of a broader Microsoft push to improve the way its separate software and service families work together.

The minimum requirements for running Windows 7 are a PC with a 1 Ghz processor, 1GB of RAM, 16 GB of disk space, 128MB of video memory and support for DX9 graphics.

Some of the Windows 7’s features help it work with other devices.

A “home group” system makes it straightforward to enrol PCs, Xbox consoles, media servers and other gadgets into a local network that can share media and content.

As with Vista it also comes with anti-piracy features, where your machine crashes when installing peer 2 peer software or torrent software, also this new version enables tracking.

Microsoft know their stuff.

Hopefully when released in full it will not be riddled with bugs ;)

The Promotion

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

Ever sat through one of those movies that you’re hoping something’s going to happen - and it doesn’t?

The Promotion is one such movie.

Here’s the uninspiring story of two guys - both intent on being promoted within a corporate supermarket franchise. ;)

That’s the premise - short and sweet.

Naturally there’s some tension between both men competing for the position, but overall the humor is weak; the competitive nature of the applicants is unconvincing and the story flat-lines a couple of minutes into the film.

sorry but its true, it doesn’t cut the mustard! :P

have fun! ;) magic

Warning:- this post does not contain the films Goofs.
