Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs

22 Sep

Visually, this is perhaps one of the most spectacular animated movies we’ve ever seen, with literally every frame being a feast for the eyes.

There were moments, especially throughout the movie’s undeniably thrilling climax, in which we were just amazed.

Not to throw in so much hyperbole, but this truly is one of the best animated films in terms of pure eye candy. :P

This should be a movie you should watch in theaters because it’s unlike any movie you have ever seen.

There’s a lot of ingenuity and inventiveness and cleverness that is warped around the movie.

The film is entertaining for both the kids and the adults to enjoy, so there’s no need to worry. ;)

If you have the chance to see this in 3D, see it but we’re sure the 2D version works just as well.

If you’re iffy about the trailer, that’s a good thing because the movie surpasses the trailer by ten times.

Prepare to get served…literally.

Inspired by the beloved children’s book, the film focuses on a town where food falls from the sky like rain.

Bill Hader will voice Flint Lockwood, a young inventor who dreams of creating something that will improve everyone’s life.

Anna Faris takes on the role of Sam Sparks, a weathergirl covering the phenomenon who hides her intelligence behind a perky exterior.

James Caan plays Tim Lockwood, Flint’s technophobic father.

Andy Samberg plays Brent, the town bully who has plagued Flint since childhood.

Bruce Campbell plays Mayor Shelbourne, who figures out that Flint’s invention can put the town, and more importantly himself, on the map.

Mr. T plays the by-the-rules town cop Earl Devereaux, and Tracy Morgan takes on the role of Earl’s rule-breaking son, Cal.

Confessions of a Shopaholic

15 May

The actors were all terrific.

The “chemistry” was there.

The storyline was interesting (not deep, somewhat predictable, but still pleasant and interesting).

I laughed a lot throughout the film.

The movie did a good job of showing why people are shopaholics and how this addiction is so dangerous.

The message was not so heavy as to detract from the feel-good angle of the movie, but it did try to display how ridiculous and shallow it is to be so defined by things.

You negative folks need to lighten up.

Personally, I really enjoyed this movie! hehe :P

Struggling with her debilitating obsession with shopping and the sudden collapse of her income source, Rebecca Bloomwood unintentionally lands a job writing for a financial magazine after a drunken letter-mailing mix-up.

Ironically writing about the very consumer caution of which she herself has not abided, Rebecca’s innovative comparisons and unconventional metaphors for economics grants her critical acclaim, public success, and the admiration of her supportive boss Luke.

Boy A

23 Sep

Jack (Andrew Garfield) is released from prison, finally, at the age of 24 … having been institutionalized for most of his life.

He and another boy murdered a child, when they were themselves children.

When Jack is released from prison, with a necessary new identity, his counsellor Terry (Peter Mullan as a convincingly flawed mentor), believes so fully in his right to redemption, you can see Jack wanting and willing to believe him.

As the movie unfolds, Jack’s doubts continue to arise, through a series of episodes (drug use, a fight, trespassing) he finds it impossible to escape from his criminal past, despite a heroic rescue of a young girl trapped in a crashed car.
