You Don’t Mess With The Zohan

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Now, racial stereotyping and crude humor can be used to great comic effect in the proper hands.

The makers of Borat toed the line brilliantly, delivering great vulgar hilarity mixed with social commentary.

You Don’t Mess With The Zohan is not even in the same time zone, much less ballpark.

The film is amazingly hostile and mean-spirited, mocking its targets with unfiltered scorn for the majority of the running time, yet tacking on a “we’re all the same” message at the end.

It’s like the school-yard bully who beats the snot out of you all semester but wishes you a good summer at when vacation time rolls around.

Why did no one involved in this debacle pull Sandler aside and gently suggest that this material was unfilmable?

Also concerning is the amount of animal abuse presented for cheap laughs.

Not my sort of thing. ;) magic

Warning:- this post does contain the films Goofs. May spoil the film.

John Fogerty - Revival

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

This is a music album aimed at the more mature generation, present company excluded :)

John’s new album is a triumph, with a sound that is at once timeless yet urgently rooted in this time and place.

The lyrics recall a continuous conversation with America, a reminder of John’s unmatched ability to resonate with people from all walks of life.

With a voice that can cut glass and inspire generations, and a band that sounds like it came to tear the roadhouse down, ‘Revival’ is not just a great John Fogerty album — and a great rock album — it’s an essential musical work by an artist without peer, that will certainly stand as one of the most compelling albums of 2007.

Below is a list of tracks including Bonus Tracks - oooh yeah oooh yeah :)
