New Browser from Google

02 Sep

We have learned that Google has launched a new Internet Browser, its called Chrome and should be available to download from today.

It’s pretty much the same as Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, Apple’s Safari and Mozilla’s Firefox, Chrome has more tools for Web surfers to cloak their online preferences, creating a shield that could make it more difficult for Google and other marketing networks to figure out which ads are most likely to appeal to which individuals.

It really is just a matter of time to see how much security the new browser has, Apple’s Safari has been reported to be the most open browser with security flaws.

happy browsing! ;) magic

Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2 Download

28 Aug

Download it here

Microsoft Corporation last night (Wednesday) unwrapped another beta version (IE8 Beta 2) for more testing its also available for all consumers, this is the corporation now unveiling new privacy and security features as the company battles the upstage Firefox’s browser.

The new browser IE8 includes a browsing tool called an accelerator, which allows you to highlight text on a Web site and then choose from a variety of functions, including different search engines, language translation or map displays.

Now for a spot of technical stuff for the Internet Explorer fans:

Microsoft Corporation now commands 73% of the internet browser market, while Mozilla’s Firefox has 19% market share, this is according to research firm Net Applications.

Microsoft’s lead has fallen in recent years.

Just four years ago, Microsoft’s market share was more than 91%. In addition to Firefox, Apple Inc. is becoming more of a competitor as strong sales of Macintosh computers have boosted use of its Safari browser, which has about 6% of the market.

Use of Firefox shot up in June when a new version was released.

More than eight million people downloaded the application in the first 24 hours after it went public.

enjoy! ;) magic

Intel to cover Africa with wireless internet

02 Dec

Africa needs to embrace wireless broadband as a potential solution to the digital divide.

Chairman of Intel Craig Barrett has said. “It’s cheaper, easier and more efficient to communicate wirelessly,” he told the BBC News website.

Less than 1% of Africans have access to broadband and only 4% use the net.

The International Telecommunications Union has predicted that the Intel-backed Wimax system could become the dominant mobile standard in Africa.

The continent’s geography and political barriers have made it difficult to roll out wired broadband.

There is a shortage of fibre cable links between African countries and very few states have extensive copper wire networks for ADSL broadband.
