Apple strip DRM from songs

Monday, January 26th, 2009

The DRM protection prevented customers from listening to music on unauthorized devices and limited the copies they could burn onto CDs.

The company facees competition from Amazon.com Inc., which charges as little as 79 cents a song - with no copy protection.

While record labels liked having DRM, they also wanted variable prices, letting them charge more for popular songs.

Apple has also disclosed plans for songs to be made available will cost 69 cents, 99 cents, or $1.29 starting in April, with most albums going for $9.99.

Soul Men

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

I was not expecting a very good movie, but this turned out to be pretty well done.

The plot was an old story, but they did a very good job keeping it fresh and not distractingly predictable.

This would have been awful in the hands of anybody other than Bernie Mac and Samuel Jackson.

Mac’s expressions and his earnestness in selling a gag are irrepressible and Jackson knows when to be a straight man and when to deliver something special.

Another re-write and some stronger direction would have made this a classic. ;)

The story begins when two former singers Named Floyd Henderson (Bernie Mac), and Louis Hinds (Samuel L. Jackson) in the seventies where in a group called The Real Deal.

Now thirty years, after learning about one of there partners named Marcus Hooks(John Legend), died of a heart attack.

Despite a little old grudges with each other, Floyd and Louis decide to re-team anyway.

But during a trip that might encounter misadventure.

Will they make it without killing each other first.

Killer Diller

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

Killer DillerThe story follows a young delinquent blues guitarist named Wesley who lands himself in a Baptist mad house after getting in a fight over a woman.

He is forced to play crappy Gospel music with a bunch of bandmembers who hate him, until he starts sneaking a little blues into their setlist.

This isn’t without the help of Verne, an autistic piano virtuoso named Vernon who drives an invisible car and has a sheltering father.

Not only does Wesley have to earn the respect of Vernon’s father and the band, get past Vernon’s jam session inhibiting disorder, but he also has to deal with the band director’s hatred of the devil’s music: the blues.
