Mamma Mia!

16 Nov

Sophie, who lives with her mother in a dilapidated hotel on an idyllic Greek island, wants nothing more than for her father to be at her forthcoming wedding.

The trouble is her father could be any one of three men with whom her mother dot dot dotted twenty years ago.

So Sophie invites all three of them to her wedding and, as expected, complications ensue.

The story, such as it is, is quite strong enough to enable the songs to be hooked onto it.

Over 24 chaotic, magical hours, new love will bloom and old romances will be rekindled on this lush island full of possibilities.

Inspired by the storytelling magic of ABBA’s songs from “Dancing Queen” and “S.O.S.” to “Money, Money, Money” and “Take a Chance on Me,” Mamma Mia! is a celebration of mothers and daughters, old friends and new family found.

(and the remixes are not bad either!) ;) magic

High School Musical 3: Senior Year

28 Oct

High School Musical 3

The movie starts out well enough with great dance sequences and cute jokes but as the movie goes on it starts to fizzle out.

The dances and sets are amazing but that is to be expected because it is on the big big screen but the acting and plot leaves little to the imagination.

The break out stars have to be Zac and Ashley but I was disappointed that Ashely was not given a bigger role and the movie focused more on Troy and Gabriella.

The plot lacked drama and stayed on one flat line instead of taking the audience on a ride

It’s a good movie but I still think the best on is the original which is the case in most movie franchises.

have fun dancing! ;) magic

Across the Universe

08 Sep

“Across the Universe” is a mess.

There’s no denying that.

It is poorly paced and badly structured, and at times its feather-light plot and contrived or obligatory numbers become tedious.

But at one point, about halfway through, I decided just to go along for the ride.

I delighted in every brash, bold choice, whether it worked or not.

I let the poignant moments move me, whether or not I intellectually felt that they were contrived.

Newcomer Jim Sturgess stars as Jude, a young man working on the docks in Liverpool.

Eager to escape, he travels to Princeton where he meets Max (Joe Anderson).

But it’s his meeting with Max’s younger sister Lucy (Evan Rachel Wood) that changes him.

They quickly fall in love, but their relationship is tested by the chaos of the late 1960s and Max’s unwilling tour in Vietnam.

Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street

23 Jan

This story begins with Benjamin Barker’s arrest by the Judge Turpin, a true figure of evil, who doesn’t think twice in convicting Barker for a crime he didn’t commit.

Sent away of London, he returns with a new facet: Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Until this moment on, his barbershop is scenery to grim assassination- through which the evidences of murder are kept hidden thanks to the help of Mrs. Lovett, the baker. Sweeney vows revenge against the judge.

Did you know: In America, this film is known as Sweeny Todd. Seemingly its the shorter version of name. You’ll sleep easier knowing that :)
