Movies like this must be appreciated for what they are, which is a hell of a ride through a fantastic and mesmerizing end of the world, created by the mind of the director that is the best doing what he knows the most: change the surface of the earth with impressive visual effects.
Disaster movie maven Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow) crafts this apocalyptic sci-fi thriller following the prophecy stated by the ancient Mayan calendar, which says that the world will come to an end on December 21, 2012.
When a global cataclysm thrusts the world into chaos, divorced writer and father Jackson Curtis (John Cusack) joins the race to ensure that humankind is not completely wiped out.

The movie heads off directly into a car chase with some terrorists in pursuit of questions, for some reason the dad decides its a good reason to go off road when their seat belts look like a strap for a backpack.
The movie contains a lot of terrible acting, this is instantly discovered in the scene where they for some reason run into an abandoned factory like place with a completely new truck in there, which they proceed to take off in for about 20 yards, and terrorists who think shooting wood will stop the wood from falling over them, and for some reason their UZI’s sound like heavy machine guns.
Later into the movie for some reason just contains a lot of bad acting, some weird driving and a lot of planets exploding along with ridiculous explosions with overdone sound effects that were found on the internet.
In a galaxy not too far from our own, a star has exploded, and the resulting blast of radiation is hurtling towards Earth.
Now it’s up to one daring astrophysicist to create a shield that will protect the planet from imminent destruction.
